An Acknowledged Serial entrepreneur, alongside his wife, liveryman of the Entrepreneurs Belinda.
A first-class honours engineering graduate in the 1980's who has gone on to apply his accumulated knowledge in the niche of radio telemetry (data by radio) for the greater good developing and deploying some of Europe's leading-edge technology in the areas of water, flood and rail safety.
This has included many things we take for granted today, including automated street light monitoring and smart metering with the design and delivery of the Smart Metering network for the city of Paris, plus several other cities across France. He was also the inventor of the safety system used by Network Rail to warn of overheating rails in summer and ice in the winter.
Brian is a passionate about the engineering profession and has such is a Middle Warden of the Worshipful Company of Engineers (as of April 29th). He is a longstanding Fellow of the IET and has been an active participant in their campaign to support those with dyslexia, along with the work of the Engineering Council for which he has donated his life story of suffering with dyslexia as a case study.
After the successful sale of their first business to a FTSE 250 company he alongside Belinda ploughed back their savings to continue their journey to create their own technology innovation centre called the Innovation Farm, where they tackle head on modern challenges such as plastic and sewage pollution and the impacts of flooding on safety from housing to railways.
He has a string of patents and will openly acknowledge that being fast to market can often be more fruitful than waiting for a patent to be granted, including one for tackling the spills from one of the most topical subjects on the news that of the combined sewer overflows, CSOs.
In giving this talk he invites you all to open you minds to the fact that as the late Prince Philip once said, "what wasn't created by God was created by Engineers".
