Business Pitches

Deborah Werbner
Deborah Werbner and Lisa Erickson - OgenblikOgenblik is an Internet of Things (IOT) focused start-up, creating compelling connected objects. Ogenblik's first project In a Nutshell (IaN) is an innovative digital tool for wellbeing and mental health therapy assessment and intervention, bridging the gap between therapy and the real world.
Mental illness is a leading cause of social and economic loss in developed countries: in the UK, one in four adults (16.7 million) suffers from mental health issues with economic costs of 105Billion for England alone. IaN targets these challenges by enhancing the effectiveness, assessment and oversight of mental health therapy, critical for NICE recommended evidenced based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. IaN is a discrete IOT Wearable and software system that enables patients to signal daily life moments of distress. Humans relate to objects. IaN is comforting to hold and manipulate, like a digital worry bead; it helps patients and therapists identify situations that trigger undesirable behavior or anxiety; allows intervention to remind patients of therapy homework tasks; provides therapist with quantitative and qualitative feedback; and enables therapy strategy and focused therapy sessions: all reducing the risk of relapse and relieving daily anxiety.
Deborah (MA Design, Doctor of Jurisprudence, BA Psychology) and Lisa (B.Ost., MFA, BSc. Psychology and MBA (Stanford)) lead the IaN team which includes a talented group of hardware engineers and software designers.

Ferguson Hill Studios
Tim Hill -
Ferguson Hill Studios
Ferguson Hill Studios are an established independent UK specialist in high end horn loaded loudspeakers and hi-fi components. Founded in 2003 by former aeronautical engineer Timothy Hill, the company arrived on the hi-fi and audio scene with the design, manufacture and launch of the groundbreaking FHOO1, the world's first ever front loaded horn dipole loudspeaker.
World famous composer and winner of awards for soundtracks such as Titanic and Braveheart, James Horner uses Ferguson Hill FH007 for near field monitoring. James visited Ferguson Hill Studios in Camden Town in May 2014. James said : "I own a couple of Ferguson Hill speaker systems. I use them for all my close in monitoring work. They sound marvelous, sparkling and clear. Not only is the sound completely transparent, their appearance is as well." Additionally, Will.i.am has used them on The Voice.

We now produce a matching Bass System, the FHOO2 / FHOO3 that accompanies the FHOO1 horn. We also launched our Mini System, FHOO7 in 2007. Designed to sit on the desktop to work with a computer, iPod or any music player. Our aim was to bring our classic horn speaker to a larger consumer market, without any compromise in sound or build quality. Tim has done really well in establishing the brand around the world, with the speaker systems now available in China!

Float UK
Bob Agnew - Float UK Modern society makes relaxing and avoiding health damaging stress very difficult. REST or Float technology enables users to relax fully both easily and quickly without drugs or learning complex relaxation techniques.
A spin off from medical research into how the brain works, the person floats in a shallow tank of Epson salts and water at body temperature. After a few minutes the person achieves a feeling of weightlessness in a wonderfully warm safe environment. This encourages brain activity similar to dreaming and the release of endorphins (the body's feel good hormones).
Most float centres are run by enthusiasts, who want to spread the word about the benefits of floating rather than build a business. Having been involved in the manufacture and sales of float tanks the team identified that there is a significant market opportunity for a chain of UK Float Centres. A suitable location has been identified for the first Float centre.
The company is seeking to secure funding of 100,000, possibly by crowdfunding, in return for an equity stake in the business. The plan is to develop the Float Centre business and a franchise offshoot towards a possible exit in 3-5 years.
